Genemob was founded in March 2006 in Pleasant Valley, NY, to develop innovative bioinformatics software. Our first product was Gene Mobile Objects, or GeneMOb — a Java software framework designed to facilitate integration and sharing of information about genes. GeneMOb was deployed in two configurations: as a stand-alone desktop application backed by Java DB, and as a distributed application using Remote Method Invocation (RMI), Java Web Start, and MySQL database.

The GeneMOb platform has been adapted for the management of patent information. PatMOb (Patent Mobile Objects) is a desktop Java application designed to facilitate rapid development of plug-ins for management and conversions of various patent data formats. Recently, the pharmaceutical giant Sanofi has signed a non-exclusive, non-transferable license agreement with Genemob to use the PatMOb software.
